لَيتَكَ آذَنتَني بِواحِدَةٍ

لَيتَكَ آذَنتَني بِواحِدَةٍ

تَجعَلُها مِنكَ سائِرَ الأَبَدِ

تَجعَلُها مِنكَ سائِرَ الأَبَدِ

If only you would tell me one thing,

If only you had warned me with one glance

and make it your pledge for all eternity:

That you would make last forever

تَحلِفُ أَلّا تَبرَّني أَبَداً

تَحلِفُ أَلّا تَبرَّني أَبَداً

فَإِنَّ فيها بَرداً عَلى كَبِدي

فَإِنَّ فيها بَرداً عَلى كَبِدي

swear that you will never show me kindness,

Swearing you'd never abandon me

for in that lies coolness for my liver.

For in it is a cooling of my liver

إِن كانَ رِزقي إِلَيكَ فارمِ بِهِ

إِن كانَ رِزقي إِلَيكَ فارمِ بِهِ

في ناظِرَي حَيَّةٍ عَلى رَصَدِ

في ناظِرَي حَيَّةٍ عَلى رَصَدِ

If my sustenance is in your hands, then cast it

If my sustenance is ordained for you, then throw it

into the eyes of a snake lying in wait.

Into my vigilant eyes that lie in wait
