وأزَالَ عَنَّا الهَمَّ والأتْرَاحَا
The letter arrived and brought joys,
The book arrived bringing joy,
And banished from us worry and sorrows.
Removing sorrow and distress from us.

Joy had already closed its door,
Happiness had shut its door,
Until it came and became a key to joy.
Until it came and opened locks.

No night of calamity grew dark but it became
No night of darkness remains
By its radiance, a lamp amid that calamity’s darkness.
Except its light becomes within it a lamp.

You were freed by it from the captivity of cares—so fly;
You released me from the shackles of worries through it,
For it may indeed be a wing for what brings joy.
So it will have wings for what makes me happy.
