O master of all who bestow gifts,

and longest of hand among them in noble deeds,

and most generous among them when a year comes

in which the udders of the morning clouds run dry:

your right hand—may none of its fingers be paralyzed—

unties the knots of difficult affairs.

And you, of all people, are most deserving

of lavish praise, and furthest from faults.

Why do you shower these people with bounty

and kindness, yet turn away from giving me gifts?

For if you count on my asking,

you will never have it, even unto death.

For my noble face has been bared to none but you,

nor has my throat been opened in begging.
