    ودعِ الفراش ونَم على فَخذي

    She said, “I give you my very soul—take it;

    leave the bed, and sleep upon my thigh.”

    And she guided my hand toward a form like a sand dune.

    I answered her, “What an excellent couch this is!”

    I was about to yield, but my good breeding said to me:

    “By God, seek refuge from your devil.”

    She said, “You kept chaste, and so disdained me.” I told her:

    “Since my hair turned gray, I have found no delight in pleasures.”
