عِندي عَبيدٌ وَسَلاطينُ
I pondered the creation of humankind, and they became equal—
I pondered the creation of humankind, and alike were
I thought about the creation of mankind, so it became clear,
I reflected on the creation of mankind, and they appeared equal,
in my eyes, slaves and sultans.
Slaves and sultans in my eyes.
To me that slaves and sultans,
In my view, the slaves and the sultans;

The origin of both groups—and for this reason
Both groups share one origin; and for that reason,
Are equal in origin and essence.
The origin of both factions is the same, and for this reason,
my heart has ceased to care for sultans—is clay.
My heart has ceased to care for clay.
So I turned my heart away from sultans.
My heart has found solace and forgotten clay.
