I eulogize, wandering distraught in every valley,

a slain one with none in all time to pay his blood-price.

Nosebleeding carried him off, and within him were

the traits of his heroic, generous grandfather.

Who, then, is there for a father who shed blood from the corners of his eyes

over him, and cut off the steed’s forelock?

With every crowned lion cub of Fihr,

loved ones and foes mourned him with me.

And high honors and tall lances wailed,

and the bright swords of India, and the sleek, galloping steeds.
