Your nearness shortens my long night,
Your nearness shortens my long night
and union with you heals my ailing heart.
And your union heals my ailing heart

And if the wind of rejection blows fiercely from you,
And if the wind of estrangement blows from you

Just as I, if I make mistakes
and my excuse shows no fair face,
And my excuse does not show a beautiful face

When worries call him, and life
it outstrips, as the generous man outstrips the miser.
He sees them like the gait of a stingy steed
