خُنتَ عَهدي وَلَم أَخُن

خُنتَ عَهدي وَلَم أَخُن

بِعتَ وُدّي بِلا ثَمَن

بِعتَ وُدّي بِلا ثَمَن

You broke faith with me, but I did not betray.

You broke my loyalty, yet I was never disloyal

You sold my affection for nothing,

You sold my love for no price

قائِلاً هَل مُزايِدٌ

قائِلاً هَل مُزايِدٌ

رابِحاً ثُمَّ مَن يَزِن

رابِحاً ثُمَّ مَن يَزِن

saying, “Is there a higher bidder?”

Saying "Is there a higher bidder?"

At a profit—then who will pay?

Seeking profit, then who will weigh?

عُدَّتي كُنتَ لِلزَما

عُدَّتي كُنتَ لِلزَما

نِ فَقَد حُلتَ وَالزَمَن

نِ فَقَد حُلتَ وَالزَمَن

You were my support against time—

You were my armor for hard times

yet you and time have changed.

But you removed yourself, and time remains

أَرخِصِ البَيعَ كَيفَ شِئ

أَرخِصِ البَيعَ كَيفَ شِئ

تَ وَذَرني لَتَندَمَن

تَ وَذَرني لَتَندَمَن

Sell cheaply, however you wish—

Sell cheaply as you wish

and leave me; you will surely regret it.

And leave me; you will regret

سَوفَ تُبلى بِغَيرِنا

سَوفَ تُبلى بِغَيرِنا

جَرِّبِ الناسَ وَاِمتَحِن

جَرِّبِ الناسَ وَاِمتَحِن

You will be tried by people other than us.

You will wear out with others

Try people, and test them.

Try the people and be tested
