May he who inhabits this hall be granted

    The longest life, gladdening souls.

And after this, may he receive in place of his home

Eden, and fine silk in place of his brocade.

And may he be granted salvation and contentment there,

And be shielded from evils and miseries.

And may Abbad endure in service of guidance's covenant,

Guarding it until he wears out the ages.

    Mu'tadid bi'llah—his benevolence

Is abundant should Time one day bring harm.

The king, lavish in bounty, who acquires

From every praise its most precious treasure.

If someone should one day seek to describe his eminence,

Eloquent and accomplished though he be, he is struck dumb.

May he ever remain a rising, radiant full moon,

Dispelling the deep darkness from our hopes.
