لَقَدindeed سَرَّناgladdened us أَنَّthat النَعِيَّthe herald of death مُوَكَّلٌassigned
لَقَد سَرَّنا أَنَّ النَعِيَّ مُوَكَّلٌ
بِطاغِيَةٍto a tyrant قَدalready حُمَّwas decreed مِنهُfor him حِمامُdeath
بِطاغِيَةٍ قَد حُمَّ مِنهُ حِمامُ
It has indeed gladdened us that the herald of death is assigned
We were glad that fate had been entrusted
To a tyrant whose death has been decreed.
With punishing a tyrant stained with guilt,
تَجانَبَturned aside صَوبُthe downpour المُزنِthe rain-clouds عَنfrom ذَلِكَthat الصَدىthe corpse
تَجانَبَ صَوبُ المُزنِ عَن ذَلِكَ الصَدى
وَمَرَّand passed عَلَيهِover him الغَيثُthe rain-cloud وَهوَwhile it was جَهامُa rainless cloud
وَمَرَّ عَلَيهِ الغَيثُ وَهوَ جَهامُ
The clouds' downpour turned aside from that corpse,
While from that echo the pleasant zephyrs swerved,
And the rain-cloud passed over him, empty of rain.
And over it the rain passed and was spilt.
