I entrust to God the one to whom I give my love
Pure; the slanderer blamed me for loving him, yet I did not obey.

Them, and beguiling assurances satisfy me.

Longings unveil his form to me, though he is hidden
From me—every sight and sound you could wish for.

And shining fair, rising from the finest place of rising.

I would ransom the marvels of your form, which conceal
The most dreadful inventions for deliberately slaying my soul.

'By God'—the noblest words with which an oath is sealed
By one whose creed in love is sincerity and piety—

No close companionship has pleased me while you are far
From it, nor has life tasted sweet when you are not with me.
