يُذَكِّرُنٍيreminds me هَذَاthis الْقَرِيضُverse وَنُورُهand its light ُ
مَحَاسِنَthe charms of مَنْthe one whom أهْوَىI love تَلُوحُgleam ثُغُورُهُits mouths
This verse and its light remind me
This poem and its light remind me
This verse and its light remind me
of the charms of the one I love; its mouths gleam.
Of the beauty of the one I love, his radiance shines
Of the charms of my beloved, whose smile gleams.
فَعِزَّتُهُfor its dignity قَدْalready أُشْرِبَتْهَاhas been imbued with it طِبَاعُهُits nature
وَرِقَّتُهُand its delicacy قَدْalready ضُمِّنَتْهَاhave been made to contain it خُصُورُهُits waists
For its dignity has suffused its nature,
His dignity has soaked his nature
Its majestic pride has been infused into his nature,
and its delicacy has been embodied in its waists.
And his gentleness is embedded in his inner self
And its delicate grace is embodied in his slender waist.
وَإِشْرَاقُهُand its radiance فِيin النَّفْسِthe soul نُورُthe light of حَبِيبِهِits beloved
إِذَاwhen لَاحَhe shines forth وَالْتَفَّتْand curled around عَلَيْهِaround him شُعُورُهُhis tresses
And its radiance in the soul is its beloved's light,
His radiance in the soul is the light of his beloved
Its radiance within the soul is the light of the beloved,
when he shines forth and his tresses curl around him.
When he appears and turns to him, his hair waves
When he appears, enveloped by his flowing locks.
وَأَوْصَافُهُand its qualities مِنْfrom بَعْدُafterward تَقْضِيdeclare بِأَنَّهُthat it is
أَمِيرُthe prince of كَلاَمِspeech of النَّاسِpeople بَلْrather هُوَit نُورُهُits light
And its qualities, moreover, proclaim that it is
And his attributes afterwards prove that he
Furthermore, its sublime qualities decree that it is
the prince of human speech—nay, its light.
Is the prince of people's speech, rather he is its light
The prince of human speech; nay, its very light.
