ضَرِيحٌa tomb لِابْنِof Ibn (son) حِرْزِHirz (refuge) النَّاسِal-Nas (the people) حِرْزِيmy refuge
ضَرِيحٌ لِابْنِ حِرْزِ النَّاسِ حِرْزِي
وَمَوْئِلُand the haven بُغْيَتِيmy desire وَمَلاَذُand the shelter عِزِّيmy honor
وَمَوْئِلُ بُغْيَتِي وَمَلاَذُ عِزِّي
The tomb of Ibn Hirz al-Nas is my refuge,
A tomb for the son, protector of mankind
The shrine of the son of the people's sanctuary is my own sanctuary,
And the haven of my desire and the shelter of my honor.
My shelter from tyranny, refuge of my honor
The destination of my quest and the haven of my glory.
أَلُوذُI seek refuge بِهِin it إِذَاwhen الْأَهْوَالُthe horrors جَاشَتْsurged
أَلُوذُ بِهِ إِذَا الْأَهْوَالُ جَاشَتْ
بَلاَبِلُهَاtheir torments التِيwhich أَبْدَيْنَthey revealed عَجْزِيmy helplessness
بَلاَبِلُهَا التِي أَبْدَيْنَ عَجْزِي
I seek refuge in it when horrors seethe
I take refuge in it when terrors surge
I seek shelter within it when terrors surge,
With their torments, which have laid bare my helplessness.
With their endless storms that expose my frailty
With their turmoils that lay bare my helplessness.
