With whom the peninsula shone
By whom the Peninsula was radiantly illuminated;

أَضْرَمَ طُولُ الضَّنَى زَفِيرَهْ
If only you could see your tormented friend—
If only you could see your grieving people
If only you could see your suffering friend,
Prolonged wasting sickness has set his sighing aflame.
Sighing long from distress
Whose sighs are kindled by prolonged wasting illness,

He complains of what has dismayed him, and sings:
Complaining of what has befallen them and singing
Complaining of what overwhelms him, as he chants:
Is there any way to the treasure?
Is there a way to the treasures?
"Is there any path to the cherished treasure?"

For his yearning for it has mirrored
For their passion has told of it
For indeed, his passionate longing for her mirrors
Mughith's yearning for Barirah.
The passion of a savior over a wounded soul
The passionate longing of Mughith for Barirah.
