O my master Jumhur, master of the multitude!

They are the stars of humankind in every darkness.

Is the ear of your forbearance attentive to al-Manjur

when he calls upon you with uncontrived humility?

Yes, by what the hands of eminence have inscribed for you

in the book of glory—and it is the finest thing inscribed—

and by the fragrance of your glory wafted to us

by the east wind of praises, of musk and camphor:

I seek refuge in love—my love for your noble qualities—

from being a beloved like one forsaken.
