يَا رَبِّ بِالْمُصْطَفَى الْمُخْتَارِ سَيِّدِنَا

يَا رَبِّ بِالْمُصْطَفَى الْمُخْتَارِ سَيِّدِنَا

مُحَمَّدٍ مَنْ سَرَى لَيْلاً إِلَى الأُفُقِ

مُحَمَّدٍ مَنْ سَرَى لَيْلاً إِلَى الأُفُقِ

O Lord, by the Chosen One, the elect, our master,

O Lord, by the Chosen One, our master

O Lord, by our Master, the Chosen One, the Elect,

Muhammad, who journeyed by night to the horizon,

Muhammad who journeyed by night to the horizon

Muhammad, who journeyed by night to the horizon,

عَلَيْهِ أَزْكَى صَلاَةٍ مِنْكَ دَائِمَةٍ

عَلَيْهِ أَزْكَى صَلاَةٍ مِنْكَ دَائِمَةٍ

مَا شَقَّ عَضْبُ صَبَاحٍ فَرْوَةَ الْغَسَقِ

مَا شَقَّ عَضْبُ صَبَاحٍ فَرْوَةَ الْغَسَقِ

Upon him be the purest blessing from You, everlasting,

Upon him the most virtuous eternal prayer from You

Upon him be Your purest, everlasting blessings,

As long as morning's keen sword cleaves the pelt of dusk.

As the dawn cleaves the darkness at first light

As long as the sharp sword of morning cleaves the mantle of darkness.

اِجْعَلْ خُطَانَا خُطَى مَنْ قَالَ مَطْلَبُهُ

اِجْعَلْ خُطَانَا خُطَى مَنْ قَالَ مَطْلَبُهُ

لَهُ هَنِيئاً مَرِيئاً قَوْلَةَ الْوَمَقِ

لَهُ هَنِيئاً مَرِيئاً قَوْلَةَ الْوَمَقِ

Make our steps those of one whose sought-for goal said

Make our missteps follow in the steps of him who uttered

Make our footsteps the footsteps of one to whom his goal says,

To him, 'May it be pleasant and wholesome'—an utterance of love.

His want is fortunate and splendid, the statement of certainty

'May it be wholesome and sweet,' with the voice of pure affection.
