My soul would ransom him whose love has undone my reason.

And cups of pure wine have not made me forget him.

He grants me union until I recover from love's anguish,

And forsakes me until I choke on my saliva.

Through him, through his union and rejection, I have come to be

In an abode of bliss or the torment of burning fire.
