فَبَانَتْ فَأَزْرَتْ بِالْجُمَانِ ثُغُورُهُ
Is this my heart’s beloved, whose joy has reached its height,
My beloved's heart's joy has reached its limit
O beloved of my heart, its joy has reached its zenith,
whose teeth have appeared and put pearls to shame?
Its thrills have appeared, adorned with pearls
When his smiling lips appeared, putting pearls to shame.
أَIs it ذَلِكَthat أَمْor دُرُّpearls الْبَيَانِeloquence مُنَظَّماًstrung together
أَ ذَلِكَ أَمْ دُرُّ الْبَيَانِ مُنَظَّماً

فَأَسْلاَكُهُ أَسْطَارُهُ شُطُورُهُ
Is it that, or pearls of eloquence strung together,
Is it that or prose of eloquence composed
Is it truly so, or are these the strung pearls of eloquence,
whose strings are its lines, its half-verses?
With its lines and verses in order?
Whose threads are its written lines and hemistichs?
