I would give my life for a young gazelle who spurns union,
I offer my life for a fawn who shuns our union,
nor am I one to forget my love for him.
Though I can never forget my love for him;

Radiant, he smiles, revealing pearls;
A radiant youth whose smile reveals pearls,
he has no rival in splendor.
Who has no equal in his splendor:

Like the willow branch, the gazelle, and the crescent moon,
in stature, gaze, and beauty.
In his stature, his glance, and his beauty.

He spoke, thus igniting within my heart
a fire whose blaze scorches my very core,
A fire whose blazing flame roasts my very core,

When I said, "Grant me union, beloved of my heart,"
'O seeker of peaches on winter nights!'
"O seeker of peaches in the dark of night!"
