قَرَعْتُI knocked بِذُلِّيin my humility بَابَthe door of الْعَزِيزْthe Almighty
قَرَعْتُ بِذُلِّي بَابَ الْعَزِيزْ
وَلِلنَّفْسِand for the soul مِمَّاfrom what تَلَظَّتْit burned fiercely أَزِيزْa hissing sound
وَلِلنَّفْسِ مِمَّا تَلَظَّتْ أَزِيزْ
I knocked in my humility at the door of the Almighty,
I knocked with my humility at the door of the mighty one,
I knocked with my humility at the door of the Almighty,
And my soul hissed from its fierce burning.
While my soul roared from the bitterness it had endured,
And my soul, from its fierce blazing, let out a seething groan,
وَأَيْقَنْتُand I knew for certain أَنِّيَthat I إِذْwhen جِئْتُهُI came to Him
وَأَيْقَنْتُ أَنِّيَ إِذْ جِئْتُهُ
ذَلِيلاًhumbled لَجَأْتُI sought refuge لِحِرْزٍin a sanctuary حَرِيزْsecure
ذَلِيلاً لَجَأْتُ لِحِرْزٍ حَرِيزْ
And I knew for certain that, when I came to Him,
And I knew when I came to him,
And I was certain that when I came to Him,
Humbled, I had sought refuge in a secure sanctuary.
Humbled, I had resorted to an inviolable refuge.
Humbled, I sought refuge in an impregnable sanctuary.
