يَاO هِلاَلَcrescent of الْعِيدِthe feast فِيin عَيْنِthe eye of غِيدِgraceful maidens
Every day of yours is the loving friend's feast.
Every day is a festival of affection for you
Every day to you is the festival of the beloved,
O crescent of the feast in fair maidens' eyes!
O crescent of the feast, in the eye of the gazelle
O crescent moon of Eid in the eyes of fair maidens.
أَنْتَyou لِلأَعْيَادِfor the feasts عِيدٌa feast وَزَيْنٌand an adornment
فَهَنِيئاًso joy بِسَنَاكَin your radiance لِعِيدِto the feast
You are a feast and adornment to all feasts.
You are the ornament and beauty of feasts
You are a festival and an adornment to all festivals,
So joy to the feast in your radiance!
So congratulations on your brilliance, for the feast
So congratulations to the holiday for your radiance.
وَهَنِيئاًand joy لَكَto you بِالْعِيدِin the feast أَيْضاًalso

مَفْخَرِthe pride of الدِّينِreligion وَزَهْوِand the glory of السَّعِيدِthe fortunate one
And joy to you, too, in the feast,
And congratulations to you on the feast as well
And congratulations to you on the festival as well,
religion's pride and the fortunate one's glory.
Pride of the faith and joy of the happy one
O pride of the faith and glory of the fortunate.
مَنْwhoever يَرَىsees مِنْكَfrom you هِلاَلاًa crescent بِعِيدِat a feast

Whoever sees in you a crescent at the feast
Whoever sees you as a crescent of the feast
Whoever beholds you as a crescent during Eid,
beholds two feasts at the moment of seeing:
Will enjoy two feasts at the time of witnessing
Witnesses two festivals at the moment of sighting.

that is, he sees a mighty day bearing witness—
That is, he will see a great glorious day
That is, he beholds a great and witnessed day,
what a witness it is in our faith!
Oh, what a martyr it is in our religion
Oh, what a grand testament it is within our faith!

And he sees a sun of splendor come into view,
And he will see the sun of glory that shone
And he sees a sun of brilliance that has emerged,
which the constellations of fortune pass among themselves as a gift.
So its mansions nodded in pleasure
Guided along by the constellations of good fortune.

That is, he sees the face of a noble, generous man,
That is, he sees the face of a generous man
Meaning, he beholds the face of a truly noble and generous man,
bending down toward a toil-worn, weary man.
Dangling for a loving and affectionate one
Reaching down with compassion to the endlessly toiling soul.
يَحْتَظِيwins favor مِنْهُfrom him الْعَدِيمُthe destitute بِعُدْمٍthrough destitution
حِينَwhen يَبْدُوappears بِوُجُودٍin existence بِجُودِwith bounty
The destitute wins favor from him through destitution,
The destitute hopes to gain from his existence
From whom the destitute gains fortune for his very lack,
when he appears in person with bounty.
When he appears with benevolence and generosity
When he appears with presence and boundless generosity.
عَشِقْتُI loved ardently منهُin him الْمَعالِيlofty virtues مَجِيداًglorious

لاَno مَجِيدٌa glorious one لِعُلاًfor lofty rank عَنْapart from مَجِيدِa glorious one
I loved his lofty virtues, glorious as he is;
I loved the splendid morals about him
I loved the high virtues in him, a glorious man,
for lofty rank, there is no glorious one apart from a glorious one.
No glory for loftiness above the glorious one
For no glorious seeker of heights is apart from glory.

His ornaments look lovely upon Time's neck,
His necklace gleamed in the excellent era
His adornments gleamed upon the neck of time,
just as jewelry looks lovely upon a neck.
Like what gleamed on the neck in the past
Just as jewels sparkle upon a fair neck.

So his is the beauty that stirred jeal-
So his charm aroused desire
For his is the beauty that awakens jealousy,
ousy in the maiden adorned with necklaces.
In the slender one with chokers
In the fair maiden adorned with necklaces.

And his radiant face that illuminates
And his is the radiant face that clears away
the darkness of black calamities.
Darknesses from the tribulations of gloom
The pitch-darkness of bleak calamities.

His is the reputation of sweet, piercing fragrance,
and his is honor, its skins unsullied;
And his pure honor and dignity
And his is the honor of an unblemished surface.

And for him is the graceful praise, the necklaces
His is the praise composed of elegant necklaces,
and his is glory, its mantles delicate.
And for him is the delicate glory, the coolness
And his is the glory wrapped in fine garments.

And for him is the exceptional merit, its brightness
His is the grace whose generosity rivals
the deep waters of the long, far-reaching sea.
Equals the long, extended ocean
The rolling depths of the vast, expansive sea.

And his is the intellect whose radiance dispels
And for him is the mind that clarifies his brilliance
And his is the intellect whose brilliance dispels
the darkness of heavy, grievous calamity.
The darkness of the difficult, arduous sermon
The shadows of heavy and severe afflictions.

And his is the sound nature which, whenever
And for him is the sound disposition, whenever
His is the sound nature; whenever

Praised more, he says is there any addition?
Praise of him is increased, it asks, 'Is there more?'

And his fortune is seen among fortunes
And he has good fortune seen in happiness
His is a good fortune visible among the stars of luck,
at his grandsire's rank among grandsires.
In the position of his grandfather in generosity
Secured by the rank of his ancestors among forefathers.
فَكِلاَso both الْجَدَّيْنِthe grandsire and the fortune أَشْرَفُnoblest جَدٍّgrandsire or fortune

So both grandfathers are the noblest grandfather
For both his lineage and his luck are the noblest,
that is, an exalted forefather and fortune ready at hand.
That is, father high and promising destiny
Meaning, an exalted father and a steadfast fortune.

Praise from one with a judicious saying
Praise from every speaker of upright words.

Every distant meaning draws closely to him.

He ascends by his craft to the Pleiades,

After he was debris in the quagmire
Elevating what was once cast upon the dirt.

Pearl of the crown on the head of the pillar
The pearl of the crown upon a graceful head.

Oh son of the Creator, the Free, the Supreme
O son of Abd al-Khaliq, the noble and supreme,
when the nature of slaves pervaded humankind!
When the creation was filled with slaves
At a time when the nature of slaves engulfed all creation.

O son of a lion who filled other lions with terror,

So they became from fear of him like deer
