Behold, then, the one toward whom you aspire and ascend—
Behold, that to which you aspire and ascend,
behold, Bakhtiyār is the name of that torn-apart one.
Bears the name 'Bakhtiyar', that divided word.
فَنِصْفَاهُso its two halves بَخْتٌfortune ثٌمَّthen يَارٌbeloved وَعَكْسُand the reverse of ذَاthis

Its two halves are bakht, “fortune,” then yār, “beloved”; and the latter reversed,
Its two halves are 'Bakht' (fortune), then 'Yar' (companion), and its reverse,
for whoever seeks it, is raʾy, “judgment,” by which one guards oneself.
For whoever seeks it, is the sound judgment by which a man shields himself.
وَبِخْتُكَand your fortune يُدْنِيbrings near مِنْكَto you كُلَّevery مُمَنَّعٍunapproachable one
وَبِخْتُكَ يُدْنِي مِنْكَ كُلَّ مُمَنَّعٍ
وَرَأْيُكَand your judgment يَنْفِيbanishes عَنْكَfrom you ذُلَّthe humiliation of التَّعَشُّقِinfatuation
وَرَأْيُكَ يَنْفِي عَنْكَ ذُلَّ التَّعَشُّقِ
And your fortune brings every unapproachable one near you,
Your fortune draws near to you every inaccessible thing,
and your judgment banishes from you the humiliation of infatuation.
While your reason banishes from you the humiliation of infatuation.
فَلاَso do not تَتَعَشَّقْfall in love غَيْرَwith anything but سَعْيٍstriving لِرَاحَةٍfor rest
فَلاَ تَتَعَشَّقْ غَيْرَ سَعْيٍ لِرَاحَةٍ
تَدُومُendures وَوَصْلٍand union مَاnot لَهُit has مِنْany تَفَرُّقِparting
تَدُومُ وَوَصْلٍ مَا لَهُ مِنْ تَفَرُّقِ
So fall in love with nothing but striving for rest
So be passionately drawn to nothing but the striving for a repose
that endures, and a union that knows no parting.
That endures, and a union that knows no separation.
