سَلْ هَامَةَ الْعَلْيَاءِ أَبَا سَلْهَامِ

سَلْ هَامَةَ الْعَلْيَاءِ أَبَا سَلْهَامِ

مِنْ بِرِّهِ الْمُبْرِي مِنَ الإِعْدَامِ

مِنْ بِرِّهِ الْمُبْرِي مِنَ الإِعْدَامِ

Ask Abu Salham, the summit of eminence,

Ask the peak of greatness, Abu Salham,

For some of his bounty, which frees one from destitution.

For his beneficence that cures one from destitution;

وَاجْعَلْهُ قِبْلَةَ مَا تُرِيدُ مِنَ الْمُنَى

وَاجْعَلْهُ قِبْلَةَ مَا تُرِيدُ مِنَ الْمُنَى

تُمْنَحْ بِهِ بِمُجَرَّدِ الإِحْرَامِ

تُمْنَحْ بِهِ بِمُجَرَّدِ الإِحْرَامِ

And make him the qibla for all your desires;

And make him the Qibla of all the hopes you desire,

Through him you will be granted them by the mere act of consecration.

You shall be granted them by the mere act of Ihram.

فَالْقَوْمُ أَهْلُ اللهِ فِي يَدِهِمْ مَقَا

فَالْقَوْمُ أَهْلُ اللهِ فِي يَدِهِمْ مَقَا

لِيدُ الْقَضَاءِ وَحِكْمَةُ العَلاَّمِ

لِيدُ الْقَضَاءِ وَحِكْمَةُ العَلاَّمِ

For these are God's people; in their hands are the keys

For these are the people of Allah; in their hands lie the keys

Of divine decree, and the wisdom of the All-Knowing.

Of destiny and the wisdom of the All-Knowing.

وَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ تَأْهِيلَ امْرِئٍ

وَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ تَأْهِيلَ امْرِئٍ

لِلْخَيْرِ أَرْشَدَهُ إِلَى الأَقْوَامِ

لِلْخَيْرِ أَرْشَدَهُ إِلَى الأَقْوَامِ

And when God wishes to prepare someone

And when Allah wills to prepare a person

For goodness, He guides him to these people.

For goodness, He guides him to such people.

وَهُمُ سَلاَمُ اللهِ يَشْمَلُ جَمْعَهُمْ

وَهُمُ سَلاَمُ اللهِ يَشْمَلُ جَمْعَهُمْ

مُتَفَاوِتُونَ بِرُتْبَةٍ وَمَقَامِ

مُتَفَاوِتُونَ بِرُتْبَةٍ وَمَقَامِ

And they—God's peace embraces them all—

And they—may the peace of Allah encompass their gathering—

Differ in rank and station.

Vary in their spiritual ranks and stations.

وَمِنَ الأُلَى حَازُوا الْمَقَامَاتِ الْعُلاَ

وَمِنَ الأُلَى حَازُوا الْمَقَامَاتِ الْعُلاَ

وَتَمَيَّزُوا بِالنَّقْضِ وَالإِبْرَامِ

وَتَمَيَّزُوا بِالنَّقْضِ وَالإِبْرَامِ

And among those who attained the highest stations,

And among those who have attained the loftiest of stations,

And were distinguished in undoing and binding,

Distinguished by the power to annul and ratify decrees,

وَحَسَوْا كُؤُوسَ السِّرِّ سِرِّ اللهِ مَوْ

وَحَسَوْا كُؤُوسَ السِّرِّ سِرِّ اللهِ مَوْ

لاَنَا أَبُو سَلْهَامٍ طَوْدِ شَمَامِ

لاَنَا أَبُو سَلْهَامٍ طَوْدِ شَمَامِ

And sipped the cups of mystery—God's mystery—is our

And who have sipped the cups of the mystery, the mystery of Allah, is our

Master Abu Salham, the mighty mountain Shamam.

Master Abu Salham, the towering mountain of Shamam.

لاَ يَرْكَنَنْ أَحَدٌ إِلَى الإِحْجَامِ

لاَ يَرْكَنَنْ أَحَدٌ إِلَى الإِحْجَامِ

عَنْ فَضْلِ مَوْلاَنَا أَبِي سَلْهَامِ

عَنْ فَضْلِ مَوْلاَنَا أَبِي سَلْهَامِ

Let no one ever be inclined to draw back

Let no one ever yield to hesitation

From the bounty of our master Abu Salham.

In seeking the grace of our master, Abu Salham.
