drops of hearts' blood from his two arrows.

How my soul yearns for those cheeks,

whose roses are those of a rain-drenched rising sun.

They were first given their own dye to drink, then a second draught

of the blood of those slain without guilt.

Nay, what befell them in this matter

was for a blood-debt demanded of them.

The eyes wounded him, so he exacted retribution from them

with burning anguish in their hearts, its scars bleeding.

He was not equaled in the perfection of his qualities

by beauty's twin among the sons of Jacob.
