يجري الهجاءُ بها في كل ميدانِ
When he saw his mother as plunder, parceled out,
When he saw his mother insulted
with satire racing with her in every arena,
And slandered in every gathering,
أحرجْتُهُI cornered him فهجانيso he lampooned me غيرَnot منتصرٍvictorious
أحرجْتُهُ فهجاني غيرَ منتصرٍ

لا سابقٌ من مجاراتي ولا ثان
I cornered him, so he lampooned me without prevailing—
I shamed him, so he raged at me, powerless,
neither first in vying with me, nor second.
With no rival to match my verses.

خِزياً أعضَّ له من هتكِ بوران
I exposed in his verse, through the weakness of his powers,
I revealed in my poetry his feeble nature
a disgrace more biting to him than the dishonoring of Buran.
A disgrace that stung deeper than stripping his honor.
