Vile men, like swine;

base men, like jerboas.

إذا ما امتُدحوا قالوا

وقعنا في النقاقيع

وقعنا في النقاقيع

Whenever they are praised, they say:

"We have fallen into stagnant pools."

رأيتُ المُهْدِي الشعرَ

رأيتُ المُهْدِي الشعرَ

إليهم فرطَ تضييع

إليهم فرطَ تضييع

I regard the one who offers verse

to them, in utter wastefulness,

كمن دحرجَ درَّ البح

كمن دحرجَ درَّ البح

رِ فيِ بَخرِ البلاليعِ

رِ فيِ بَخرِ البلاليعِ

as one who rolls the sea's pearls

into the stench of drains.

أشِعْ عنهم خزاياهم

أشِعْ عنهم خزاياهم

وسمِّعْ كل تسميع

وسمِّعْ كل تسميع

Spread word of their shameful deeds,

and denounce them to the utmost.
