Two feasts brought together in one feast—

Two festival staffs united in a feast

A sign of confirmation and support.

A proof of confirmation and support

ما جُمِع الفطرُ إلى جُمْعةٍ

ما جُمِع الفطرُ إلى جُمْعةٍ

إلا لِمُلك ولتخليدِ

إلا لِمُلك ولتخليدِ

Eid al-Fitr was not joined to a Friday

Nor was the Breaking of the Fast joined to the Assembly

Save for kingship and its perpetuation.

Except for a king and for eternity

ولم أقل من ذاك ما قلتُه

ولم أقل من ذاك ما قلتُه

إلا بتوفيق وتسديدِ

إلا بتوفيق وتسديدِ

And I did not say what I said of that

And I did not say less than what I said

Except through favor and right guidance.

Except with success and guidance

وليس مِنِّي ذاك بل منكُمُ

وليس مِنِّي ذاك بل منكُمُ

يا نجْلَ صنديد فصنديد

يا نجْلَ صنديد فصنديد

And that is not from me, but from you,

It is not from me but from you

O scion of champion after champion!

O progeny of Sandiid the progeny of Sandiid

حَبَتْكَ بالنَّرجِسِ أيامُه

حَبَتْكَ بالنَّرجِسِ أيامُه

والراحِ فاشرب غيرَ تصريدِ

والراحِ فاشرب غيرَ تصريدِ

Its days have bestowed narcissus on you

Your days loved you with the narcissus

And wine; so drink without stint,

And comfort so drink without sipping

على سماعٍ مُطربٍ معجِبٍ

على سماعٍ مُطربٍ معجِبٍ

ألذَّ من نُجح المواعيدِ

ألذَّ من نُجح المواعيدِ

To delightful, enchanting music,

To pleasing, enchanting, enjoyable listening

Sweeter than promises fulfilled.

Sweeter than the success of appointments

واجعله يا من لم يزل ماجداً

واجعله يا من لم يزل ماجداً

في الفعل موصولاً بتمجيدِ

في الفعل موصولاً بتمجيدِ

And let it, O you who have always been noble

And make it, O you who has always been glorious

In deed, be accompanied by praise—

In action connected to glorification

لا من خدودٍ سوَّدتْها اللِّحَى

لا من خدودٍ سوَّدتْها اللِّحَى

بل من خدودٍ ذاتِ توريدِ

بل من خدودٍ ذاتِ توريدِ

Not from cheeks blackened by beards,

Not from cheeks darkened by beard

But from cheeks with a rosy bloom.

Rather from cheeks with softness

تجمعْ لعينٍ وفمٍ طاهرٍ

تجمعْ لعينٍ وفمٍ طاهرٍ

ماءَيْ خدود وعناقيدِ

ماءَيْ خدود وعناقيدِ

Thus, for an eye and a pure mouth, you will unite

Bring together for an eye and a pure mouth

The two waters—of cheeks and grape clusters.

Waters of cheeks and bunches of grapes

دونك يا سيِّدَ أكفائه

دونك يا سيِّدَ أكفائه

عزف الحسان الخرَّد الغيدِ

عزف الحسان الخرَّد الغيدِ

Take, O lord of your peers,

Below you, O Master of his peers

The music of the fair, bashful, lissome maidens.

Strumming the pleasant, melodious, lyrical strings

فمن صواب الرأي لُقِّيتَهُ

فمن صواب الرأي لُقِّيتَهُ

جمعُك بين العيد والغيدِ

جمعُك بين العيد والغيدِ

For part of the sound judgment granted to you

So by the right opinion you were met

Is your joining the feast with the lissome maidens.

Your gathering between the feast and the song

وأَخلِق العيدَ وأمثاله

وأَخلِق العيدَ وأمثاله

في ظل نعمى ذات تجديدِ

في ظل نعمى ذات تجديدِ

And wear out the feast and others like it

And make the feast and its like

In the shade of ever-renewed bliss.

In the shade of blessings of renewal

لا زالت الدنيا وأملاكُها

لا زالت الدنيا وأملاكُها

تُلقي إليكم بالمقاليدِ

تُلقي إليكم بالمقاليدِ

May the world and its kings never cease

The world and its possessions still

To yield the keys of power to you.

Throw themselves to you with the keys

وشيَّد اللَّه الذي أسَّسَتْ

وشيَّد اللَّه الذي أسَّسَتْ

لكم سعاداتُ المواليدِ

لكم سعاداتُ المواليدِ

And may God raise high what has been founded

And may God who established

For you by the good fortunes of birth.

For you the happinesses of births make firm
