عرضي على ذاك وقْفٌ آخر الأبدِ
They said, “Abu Hafs has lampooned you.” I told them:
They said Abu Hafs has satirized you, so I said to them:
“My honor is an endowment for that man until eternity’s end,
My honor is pledged to him for all eternity

in return for one favor—if he grants it, and it is easy—
If he needs a small favor from me
that the old man let my hand roam for pleasure over those platters.
The Shaikh's hand will be kept clean of those chargers

Who will secure that for me? My honor, as long as I live, is his,
Who can help me in this? My honor is pledged to him
without retaliation, blood money, or retaliatory execution.
Without retaliation, sanity, or execution
