أصبحت أعيُن الغواني عدّتني

أصبحت أعيُن الغواني عدّتني

ولعهدي بها إلي تميلُ

The eyes of beautiful women now pass me by,

The eyes of the beauties have counted me old,

though I remember them turning toward me.

Though my bond with them still inclines to me.

طرقتهنّ شيبة وقذاة ال

عين لا يستَقلّ منها القليلُ

A gray hair has struck them; and a mote in the

Grey hair and cataracts have come to them,

eye is not deemed slight, however small.

Eyes that can scarcely make out the little.
