Return the greeting from behind your veil.

May God restore our hearts with your return.

I used to find solace in passing by your door.

But now I am desolate, since they set out with your riding camels.

Death in its throes is no harsher than

my anguish that evening when they announced your departure.

So be certain that you have indeed killed a youth whose

heart writhed in your agonizing torment.

What ails the riding camels, whose legs gave way

when they set out, swaying with your canopied litters,

and whose limbs fell away from their saddles

when my cord was severed from the loops of your cords?
