فالآن فاكتُب لي إليكَ كِتابا
Once you would favor me with your letter;

قدindeed أورقَput forth leaves العودُthe bough الذيwhich أمّلْتُهُI hoped for it
قد أورقَ العودُ الذي أمّلْتُهُ
وحَلاَand grew sweet جَناهُits fruit لمُجتنيهِfor its gatherer وطاباand became pleasing
وحَلاَ جَناهُ لمُجتنيهِ وطابا
The bough I had hoped for has put forth leaves,
The stick I hoped for has leafed,
and its fruit has grown sweet and pleasing to its gatherer.
And its blossoms have ripened for its picker, and been good.
