O refuge, I seek no substitute for you.
O son of the two ministers, O you whom
O blessing, I seek no change away from you.
None can turn from his purpose or diminish his pardon,

O son of the two viziers, O one who never turns away
O you who when I speak of you, your veneration
From mending a breach or pardoning a grave offense.
Makes me articulate and saves me from error and stumbling,

And when I act, your favor assists me
By reverence for him, and thus spared deviation and error.
And preserves me from tripping or slipping.

And one who, whenever I act, lends me support
So many kind acts have you done for me,
Through his favor, so I am protected from stumbling and slips.
And lines of verse praising you have I composed.

How many deeds of yours toward me you have made proverbial,
You have granted me high hopes in ease after hardship,
And praise-poems of mine about you I have made proverbial!
May God grant you the fulfillment of all your hopes.

You lodged me on the summits of hope in ease;
By God, who will amply reward beyond all lies
May God lodge you on the summits of your hopes.
A duration through which I shortened my long days.

God possesses bounty and will surely recompense, without falsehood,
Would my soul be niggardly to you whom it approached,
The bounty through which I shortened my long hours.

Yet I was not ignorant, nor did I resemble the ignorant.

So I hope only for the duration of his existence,
O son of the vizier—and what he gave and bestowed!
May God prolong it until death is frustrated.

May God prolong it until it humbles death.
