ياO واحدِpeerless one الناسpeople فيin الآلاءblessings والمننِand benefactions
يا واحدِ الناس في الآلاء والمننِ
والمستجارَand the one sought for refuge بهwith him منfrom حادثِcalamity الزمنِtime
والمستجارَ به من حادثِ الزمنِ
O peerless one among men in blessings and benefactions,
O source of bounty for all of humankind
And you with whom refuge is sought from time’s calamities,
And refuge for those battered by fate's waves
وابنَand son of الذينthose who بنواbuilt أساسfoundation دولتهمtheir state
وابنَ الذين بنوا أساس دولتهم
علىon النبوةprophethood والقرآنand the Qur’an والسُّننِand the prophetic traditions
على النبوة والقرآن والسُّننِ
And son of those who built the foundation of their state
Son of those who built their reign's foundation
On prophethood, the Qur’an, and the prophetic traditions,
On prophecy, Qur'an, and the sunna's ways
أشدُّthe severest ماwhat بيَafflicts me منof شكوٍcomplaint ومنand of ألمٍpain
أشدُّ ما بيَ من شكوٍ ومن ألمٍ
فقديmy loss جَنَىfruit مقلتيmy eye منfrom وجهكyour face الحسنِbeautiful
فقدي جَنَى مقلتي من وجهك الحسنِ
The severest of the suffering and pain I bear
My bitterest plaint and pain toward you insist
Is my loss of the fruit my eye gathers from your beautiful face.
