مُذever since كانhe came to be فضلاًto say nothing عنof أوِدّائِهِhis friends
O giver of kindness to your enemies,
O you who give generously to his enemies
All your life—to say nothing of your friends!
Since it was more than to his friends
وياand O أخاbrother of الجودِgenerosity وخُلْصانَهُand its close friend

And O brother and close friend of generosity,
O brother of generosity and its sincerity
In all that cures it of its ailment,
For all that cures him of his pain

The fresh violet has come; bestow it,
The fresh wet dates have come, so be generous with them
While it remains moist with its dewdrops.
As long as they are desired by the necks
قدindeed جادتhas been generous الأرضُthe earth بإنباتِهِby making it grow
فجُدْso be generous لناto us أنتyou yourself بإهدائِهِby gifting it
The earth has been generous in making it grow;
The land was generous with its plants
So be generous yourself: give it to us as a gift.
So be generous with us by giving them

And do not be stingier than a clod of clay
And do not be stingier than clay
That displays it in the season of its appearance.
That shows it during its manifestation

بفعلِof doing معروفٍa kindness وإسدائِهِand bestowing it
The earth is no worthier than a noble youth
The land is no more deserving than a glorious young man
Of doing a kindness and bestowing it.
Of a good deed and giving it

And a noble man never interrupts, in any circumstance,
And the free man does not cut off in a state
His habitual bounty and beneficence.
The habits of his generosity and efforts

His white ones—by black ones from him;
Its whiteness apparent in its blackness

The pleasant ones among them—by bitter ones of his.
From which congratulations come with their trouble

مثلكsomeone like you أنto يُجزىbe repaid بإكْدائِهِby withholding from him
It is not right for one who has placed his hopes
It is not right that one who has hoped for its delay before
In someone like you to be repaid with refusal.
Like you should be rewarded with its prevention
