O Abu al-Fadl, the yield of my Shamityaq

comes forth anew, returning to you each year.

And surely your bounty's recurring yields, for the

hopeful, deserve constancy more than all others.

Nothing saves you from reproach born of closeness

    except your lovely, mighty favors.

So seek refuge from it in wheat for kashk,

renewing your kindness as the generous do.

I swear, O son of Salih ibn Ali,

and son of Isa ibn Ja'far, the mighty lord:

My pledge, when another pledge turns cold,

is surely fresh, and my love is surely growing.

An affection that mingled with my heart and crept

through my veins, and became marrow in my bones.

So, in proportion to that, I ask for my

needs, and draw them forth without bashfulness.

Asking for the great among them, without overstepping,

asking for the small, not to seize advantage.

    Not belittling the small gifts

of yours, nor extolling the great gifts of the ignoble.

Long have they been dark as nights,

while you shone for people like days.

And you rose above creation like

heads, while men were like feet.

And you coursed through every lifeless deed of

kindness, as souls course through bodies.

And these are acts of devotion; in this matter I am only

an agent, and you fulfill the bond of honor.
