قلبيmy heart إليكto you وإنand even if أعرضْتُI turned away مُنْقَادُsubmissive
ليستْthere are no عليكagainst you وإنand even if أذنبتَyou did wrong أحقادُgrudges
My heart submits to you, even if I turn away.
My heart is to you, though I may turn away, compelled,
There are no grudges against you, even if you have done wrong.
No grudges against you, though you may sin.
أنتyou الحياةlife فأنِّىso how عنكaway from you منصَرَفيmy turning away
وإنand even if بداappeared منكfrom you إقصاءٌrejection وإبعادُand banishment
You are life—how, then, could I turn away from you?
You are life, so how could I turn from you?
And even if rejection and banishment come from you.
Though you may spurn and cast me out.
أحببتُI have loved مذsince علقتْbecame attached نفسيmy soul بحبِّكُمُto love for you
صوتاًa melody يغنَّىis sung لقلبيfor my heart فيهin it إقْصادُa deathblow
Ever since my soul grew attached to love for you, I have loved
I have loved you since my soul clung in love to you,
A sung melody that holds a deathblow for my heart.
A voice that sings to my heart's content.
شوقيmy longing إليكfor you علىover الأيامthe days يزدادincreases
والقلبand the heart بعدكin your absence للأحزانto sorrows معتادُaccustomed
My longing for you grows as the days pass.
My longing for you increases with the days,
And in your absence, the heart is accustomed to sorrow.
And the heart after you is accustomed to sorrows.
ياO لهفanguish نفسيmy soul علىfor إلْفٍa beloved companion فُجعتI was bereaved بهof him
كأنas though أيامهhis days فيin الحسنbeauty أعيادُfestivals
Oh, my soul's anguish for a beloved companion whose loss has stricken me!
Oh, yearning of my soul for a companionship I was delighted with,
As though his days, in their beauty, were festivals.
As if its days of beauty were festivals.
