It is anguish to seek patience without you, only for it to rebel

My heart twists in agony when I try patience without you

against me; and baseness for patience to come to my aid.

Remorse grips me that patience would aid me

فيا حَزَني أن لا سلوَّ يُطيعني

ويا سوءَتا من سلوتي إنها غدرُ

So, oh, my sorrow that no solace obeys me!
