قد كان من رأب الصدوع التي

ذكرت قتل الأحول الفاسقِ

Indeed, part of mending the rifts that

I mentioned was the slaying of the cross-eyed sinner,

مع انحطاط السعر ثم الذي

تلاهما من مهلك المارقِ

along with the fall in prices, and then what

followed them both: the renegade's demise.

وانفتق الجو بريح غدت

رَوحاً بمنِّ الفاتق الراتق

And the sky opened up with a wind that became

refreshment, by the grace of Him who sunders and joins.

وانقلب المصطافُ في شهرنا

مرتبَعاً من جودك الدافق

And the summer retreat, in this month of ours, became

a spring pasture through your overflowing bounty.

ومن ندى كفيك جاد الشرى

شؤبوب ذاك الراعد البارق

And from the dew of your two palms, al-Shara was watered

by the downpour of that thundering, lightning-flashing cloud.

وكل ما كنت تفاءلتُه

فوافقَ الحقَّ بلا عائقِ

And all that I had taken as a good omen

thus proved true, without hindrance.

حق أتاح الله لي قوله

وقد يتاح الصدق للناطق

A truth God enabled me to utter,

and truth is sometimes granted to a speaker.

وما لقينا لك من مادح

إلا مُلَقَّى منطق صادق

And we have met no one who praises you

except one granted truthful speech.
