Indeed, Abu Hafs and his beard—

Both have been incited against me, lampooning me together,
while I am alone—and the greater number prevails.

I swear, he did not call his beard to his aid
until he grew afraid of me, full of dread.

If he is my match, as he claims,
then let him leave his beard to one side.
