أسلُ الغِنى عنك الذي

أسلُ الغِنى عنك الذي

أغناكَ عنّي بالثراءِ

أغناكَ عنّي بالثراءِ

I seek independence from you from the One who

I ask for richness without you, who

made you independent of me through riches,

made you rich without me with wealth

كَيْما تَراني في الذي

كَيْما تَراني في الذي

أبصرتُ فيكَ من القضاءِ

أبصرتُ فيكَ من القضاءِ

so that you may see me in the state

So you would see me in what

that I saw fate decree for you.

I saw in you of destiny

ولقد أرَقْتُ بلا انتفا

ولقد أرَقْتُ بلا انتفا

عٍ ماءَ وجهي بالرَّجاءِ

عٍ ماءَ وجهي بالرَّجاءِ

And I have indeed poured out, without any

And I have stayed up without rest

benefit, the water of my face in hope.

Wetting my face with hope

فمنَعتني منكَ الجَدا

فمنَعتني منكَ الجَدا

وسرقتني طِيب الثناءِ

وسرقتني طِيب الثناءِ

So you denied me your bounty

But separation from you prevented me

and robbed me of the sweetness of praise.

And stole from me the scent of praise
