رأيتُكمْI saw you تستعدُّونyou make ready السلاحَthe weapons ولاand not
رأيتُكمْ تستعدُّون السلاحَ ولا
تقاتلونyou fight ولاnor يُحمىis protected لكمfor you سَلَبُbooty
تقاتلون ولا يُحمى لكم سَلَبُ
I saw you readying your weapons, yet
you do not fight, nor is your booty protected.
كالنخلِlike the palm يُشْرعُthrusts out شوكاًthorns لاnot يذودُwards off بهِwith it
كالنخلِ يُشْرعُ شوكاً لا يذودُ بهِ
عنfrom حملِهِits fruit كفَّthe hand of جانٍa gatherer فهوso it is مُنتهَبُplundered
عن حملِهِ كفَّ جانٍ فهو مُنتهَبُ
Like a palm that thrusts out thorns but does not use them to ward off
a gatherer's hand from its fruit, which is thus plundered.
