Heaven, earth, and the people grew angry on my behalf

    against Ibn al-Labūn, Ismāʿīl.

And why should heaven, together with earth,

and mankind, be angered by anything but the Majestic's wrath?

God disapproved of seeing praise like mine

for Abū al-Faqr, though he gives nothing.

So He struck him with a Hashimite star,

more ruinous to him than stones of baked clay.

Indeed, he schemed as much as he could, but

his scheming was brought to naught.

That dark blood flowed from that slave,

and his mourners' tears flowed down every channel.

    إنه في لظًى طويل العويل

    Let a mourner prolong his wailing over him;

for he is in blazing fire, wailing long.

May God never water his body with rain from the clouds,

nor his soul with water from Salsabīl.
