وتلكand that أشقُّharder الكُلْفتَينِthe two burdens عليكاupon you
وتلك أشقُّ الكُلْفتَينِ عليكا
Give to me, or direct me to someone who will give to me;
Grant me or guide me to one who will grant me,
and that is the harder of the two burdens upon you.
And that is more difficult for you than both.

تُنيلُgive يداهُhis two hands بعدafter منعِthe withholding of يديكاyour two hands
تُنيلُ يداهُ بعد منعِ يديكا
When, I wonder, will you find a single man
If only you knew - are you alone able
whose hands will give after your hands have withheld?
To grant what your hands refuse to grant me?
أبىruled out ذاكthat أنthat الخيرَgoodness منكfrom you معانُهُits dwelling place
أبى ذاك أن الخيرَ منك معانُهُ
وأنَّand that مُشارَthe pointing of العالمينَthe world's people إليكاtoward you
وأنَّ مُشارَ العالمينَ إليكا
That cannot be, for you are where goodness dwells,
He refused, believing good comes from you
and all the world's people point toward you.
And the needs of all people rest with you.

My hand is forfeit to any man seeking bounty,
My hands remain tied from attaining my wants
if ever he gains it without gaining it from you.
Unless you allow it - it cannot be attained.
