وإذا بغى باغٍ عليك بجهله

فاقتلْه بالمعروف لا بالمنكرِ

فاقتلْه بالمعروف لا بالمنكرِ

And if an aggressor wrongs you in his ignorance,

Then kill him with kindness, not with evil.

أحسِنْ إليه إذا أساء فأنتما

أحسِنْ إليه إذا أساء فأنتما

من ذي الجزاء بمَسْمَع وبمنظرِ

من ذي الجزاء بمَسْمَع وبمنظرِ

Do good to him when he does evil, for you both are

Within the hearing and sight of the One who requites.
