1. ألا رُبَّ أشياءَ مذكورةٍ

    يُحدَّثُ عنها وليستْ تُرى

    Ah, how many things are mentioned,

    Spoken of, yet never seen:

  2. بِعرْسٍ وآوَى وما أشْبها

    وكابنِ الرُّخاميِّ طيفِ الكَرى

    ʿIrs and Āwā, and others like them,

    And Ibn al-Rukhāmī, a phantom of slumber.
