تردَّدْنا الى الدارِ

تردَّدْنا الى الدارِ

وما فُزْنا بأوطارِ

We kept returning to the house,

We returned to the house

and did not attain our desires.

But did not find a place to rest

فإن عُدْنا فلا كانَ

فإن عُدْنا فلا كانَ

لنا مثوًى سوى النارِ

لنا مثوًى سوى النارِ

So if we return, may there be no

If we return, there will be

abode for us but the fire.

No refuge for us except hellfire

على أنّا عذرْناكَ

على أنّا عذرْناكَ

على ذاكَ بأعذارِ

على ذاكَ بأعذارِ

Yet we have excused you

Though we apologize to you

for that, with excuses:

With these excuses

لأنت البدرُ لا تنفكّ

لأنت البدرُ لا تنفكّ

في طولِ المدى ساري

في طولِ المدى ساري

Indeed, you are the full moon, never ceasing

For you are the full moon that does not cease

to journey by night throughout time.

To rise forever
