يا أيها الحافظُ الذي بسَنا

يا أيها الحافظُ الذي بسَنا

طلعتِه الدهرَ يُطرَدُ الحلَكُ

طلعتِه الدهرَ يُطرَدُ الحلَكُ

O Hafiz, by the radiance

O you, the protector, whose rising

of whose countenance darkness is forever driven away.

Has made time itself be driven away

مجلسُك الآن قد سما فلِذا

مجلسُك الآن قد سما فلِذا

مجالسُ الغيرِ حازَها الدّرَكُ

مجالسُ الغيرِ حازَها الدّرَكُ

Your assembly has now risen high, and thus

Your gathering now has become sublime,

the depths have claimed the assemblies of others.

So gatherings of others are forsaken

حفّ بك الطالبونَ فاستمعوا

حفّ بك الطالبونَ فاستمعوا

لفظاً لألبابهم هو الشّرَكُ

لفظاً لألبابهم هو الشّرَكُ

The students gathered around you and listened

The seekers have surrounded you, listening

to an utterance that is a snare for their minds.

To words that are like a draught to their intellect

فهُمْ نجومٌ تلوح زاهرةٌ

فهُمْ نجومٌ تلوح زاهرةٌ

وأنت بدر والمجلسُ الفلكُ

وأنت بدر والمجلسُ الفلكُ

So they are stars, gleaming bright,

They are shining stars appearing

and you are a full moon, and the assembly is the firmament.

While you're the full moon, and this gathering, the sky
