للِّه دَرُّ مِجَنٍّ قد جُنِنْتُ بِهِ

للِّه دَرُّ مِجَنٍّ قد جُنِنْتُ بِهِ

صِيغَتْ كوابجه منه على قَدَرِ

صِيغَتْ كوابجه منه على قَدَرِ

How splendid the shield with which I have become besotted!

All praise is for Allah, I'm crazy about a beautiful girl

Its bosses were fashioned from it in due proportion.

Her braids were made as if on the image of the full moon

لم يُخْطِ تشبيهَهُ مَنْ قالَ حينَ بَدَا

لم يُخْطِ تشبيهَهُ مَنْ قالَ حينَ بَدَا

إِنَّ الثُّريَّا بَدَتْ في صَفْحَةِ القَمَرِ

إِنَّ الثُّريَّا بَدَتْ في صَفْحَةِ القَمَرِ

He who said, when it appeared, did not err in his comparison:

When she first appeared, none could compare her beauty to

“Indeed, the Pleiades have appeared on the face of the moon.”

The Pleiades shining in the face of the moon
