ينافر إِيقاعُه صَوْتَهُ

ينافر إِيقاعُه صَوْتَهُ

فهذا يزيد وذا ينقصُ

فهذا يزيد وذا ينقصُ

His rhythm clashes with his voice.

His rhythm jars his voice

So this one increases, and that one decreases.

So this one adds and that one subtracts

ويتبعه زامرٌ مثلُهُ

ويتبعه زامرٌ مثلُهُ

تَليعٌ له نَفَسٌ أَوْقَصُ

تَليعٌ له نَفَسٌ أَوْقَصُ

And a piper like him follows him,

And a piper like him follows

Long-necked, with a short-necked breath.

A polished one whose breath is concise

فإِنْ قام ما بيننا راقِصاً

فإِنْ قام ما بيننا راقِصاً

فكُلٌّ إِلى بيته يَرْقُصُ

فكُلٌّ إِلى بيته يَرْقُصُ

So if he rises in our midst to dance,

So if one arises to dance between us

Then everyone dances off to his own house.

Each returns home dancing
