أشارَhe advised منout of شدةِthe intensity of إشفاقِهhis concern
أشارَ من شدةِ إشفاقِه
بالصّبْرِwith patience والحِميةُand abstinence رأيُthe advice of الطبيبْthe physician
بالصّبْرِ والحِميةُ رأيُ الطبيبْ
He counseled, out of his deep concern,
patience—and abstinence is the physician’s advice.
وثِقتُI trusted بالودّin affection وصدقِand sincerity of الوفاloyalty
وثِقتُ بالودّ وصدقِ الوفا
منهfrom him وقدyet sometimes يخطئُmisses سهمُthe arrow of المُصيبone who hits the mark
منه وقد يخطئُ سهمُ المُصيب
I trusted in affection and sincere loyalty
from him—yet even a skilled archer’s arrow may miss.
